The Thomson seatpost tube and head are integrally machined one piece high strength 7000 series aluminum parts. The head is not swaged or bonded. This provides the greatest strength and minimum weight.
The Thomson seatpost design includes a bend protection to prevent catastrophic failure. All competing seatposts we tested performed very poorly with the seat and clamp components and sometimes parts of the tube and head flew in all directions
